The Venaria Reale in Turin
Built at the behest of Carlo Emanuele II as a hunting and pleasure residence, the Reggia di Venaria is one of the magnificent ducal residences in Piedmont built to create a "Crown of Delights" around the capital as evidence of the power of Savoy.
Built between 1659 and 1679 based on a design by Castellamonte, the imposing complex of the Reggia di Venaria developed along a 2 km axis that connected the Borgo, the Royal Palace with the beautiful Diana Salon and the Gardens.
